Evaluation 1: Computerized Posturography And Functional Testing
The first test will be with a MABI physical therapist. This exam is important because your balance depends on several pieces of information the brain receives from the muscles and joints. The therapist will examine your coordination, strength, and flexibility by asking you to walk, squat, shift weight, and perform other physical functions.
Also, they will test you on a balance platform machine. This 'computerized posturography' machine utilizes a computer system to test your balance, posture, and sway. This machine also tests your sensory system (how well you feel the ground, for example,) and it further measures motor control.
